Keeping business moving

COVID-19 is impacting businesses globally, here's how we are supporting our colleagues and the industry

We know this is a really challenging time for everyone as we begin adjusting to a new kind of normal – particularly as a lot of people in our industry will now be working from home for a prolonged period of time.

Much of the shipping sector is built on relationships and restricting social contact doesn’t create the best environment for that. So, one of the most important things we can do, to support colleagues, customers and partners, is to keep lines of communication as open as possible. Though some bigger companies are already set up to do this remotely, we know not everyone could be prepared to cope with such a rapidly evolving situation.

Sea/chat – our instant communication tool for shipping and offshore – is accessible and completely free-of-charge for anyone in the industry, providing a simple, secure and compliant way of staying in touch. We hope it will go some way to helping maintain conversation across the industry at this uncertain time.

As a business we’ve taken steps to ensure that you are supported and can continue to conduct business. For existing Sea/ customers you’ll know that all of the modules within the Sea/ platform are cloud-based meaning you can access them from any internet browser with a single login. A number of the modules also have smartphone apps. Our support staff are located globally and can provide 24 hour support coverage, even whilst working remotely.

If you’re not currently a customer of Sea/, or only have one of our modules then don’t despair. As IMO Secretary General stresses, this is ‘a voyage together’ and we’re committed to providing all the help and support we can to the shipping community. Whether it’s advice, support, access or insight, please reach out and we’ll look at ways in which we can ensure we can keep shipping moving together.
